Saint Gaudens
The Saint-Gaudens $20 Double Eagle is certainly one of the most beautiful, popular, and widely recognized of all the world's gold coins. The last gold piece struck by the U.S. government for regular issue, it will forever remain a symbol of the emerging greatness of the United States in the 20th Century. The obverse depicts Liberty holding a staff and olive branch as she walks from the sun. The reverse of the $20 Saint-Gaudens features a bald eagle gliding across the sun. The words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "TWENTY DOLLARS" span across the top of the coin.
