About the 1991 $50 Gold American Eagle

Like all Gold American Eagles, this $50 coin issued in 1991 offers an easy, convenient, and highly portable way to invest in gold bullion. It contains 1 Troy oz. of 22 karat gold, a weight and purity which is backed by the United States Government.

Visually stunning, this coin features Augustus Saint Gaudens' Lady Liberty design on the obverse and Miley Busiek's eagle family design on the reverse. It's a blending of the old and the new, as Gaudens' design heyday was in the early part of the 19th century, and Busiek submitted her design for the 1986 release of this coin, becoming the first female designer to see her work on any American coin. This coin offers additional visual interest because it also comes from one of only six years in which Roman numerals were used for the date mark.

What makes this coin a good buy?

For the gold bullion investor, this coin is well-regarded and highly recognized. Portable and private, it offers a tangible way to grow wealth as the price of gold improves over time.

For those who enjoy speculating on the future value of a coin this $50 Gold American Eagle offers additional possibilities. It comes to you in brilliant uncirculated condition, a high grade sought by collectors. It's part of an immensely popular series, and some dates of this coin are already enjoying off-the-charts value. While we can't say what the future will bring we can say the growth potential makes it an exciting addition to any portfolio.
