Product Description
Details
Making their debut in 1986, $25 American Gold Eagle coins were first produced following the signing of the Gold Bullion Act in 1985. Each coin contains its full stated weight of pure gold, and in order to help prevent scratching and marring has an added composition of silver and copper to increase durability.
Since gold is a very soft metal, it is extremely rare to find it not mixed with other stabilizing metals. For example, the American Gold Eagle coins contain 91.67% gold (22 karat), 3% silver, and 5.33% copper.
